A week in the life of Kim, one of our dedicated Account Mangers!

Office Care’s dedicated account managers work hard to make sure our clients receive the support and management to deliver a quality commercial cleaning service.

Read below to get an insight into one of our account managers, Kim Richardson’s week at Office Care.

Monday

This morning, I have a client meeting with Derbyshire County Cricket Club, which is one of our long-standing clients.

I head over to the County Ground, where we discuss the renewal of the Club’s cleaning contract and go through any amendments to their on-going cleaning requirements.

Back at the office, I prepare for an afternoon interviewing prospective candidates for various cleaning operative positions. The company has won a number of significant contracts recently, so we’re looking to expand our team.

Office Care cleaning operatives are appointed to work at dedicated sites, so they are familiar with the building and the client’s requirements.

I have six candidates to interview for a position at Derby Theatre. After the initial interview stage, the successful candidate will go through our in-house training programme before their induction to the site.

Before heading home, I go to do the second part of an on-site induction with a new cleaner at Derwent Street Dental Clinic in Belper.

Back at home, I have dinner with my partner Dan and daughter, Kenzie, before helping her with her maths homework.

Tuesday

This morning I head straight to a client meeting at the Westfield Centre. Co-op Travel are a new client who have just opened a branch in Westfield and I go to perform the walk-around with the designated cleaner to familiarise myself with the site and sign the necessary security paperwork.

Back at the office, I have a mountain of paperwork to get stuck into, which takes me the rest of the day.

Later in the afternoon, a cleaner due to work that evening calls in sick, so I phone around and arrange cover.

After work I go to the gym on Pride Park, before heading home for a relaxing evening with the family.

Wednesday

Straight after that I head over to Ruddington to meet with a client and discuss some cleaning specification amendments.

At Office Care, we assign an account manager to every client so they can form a relationship with us and we can fully understand their cleaning requirements.

In the afternoon I accompany Jo, one of our new account managers, to an induction meeting with a client. I introduce Jo as their new account manager, perform a walk-around and discuss the client’s expectations for our service.

Thursday

Office Care has taken a stand of today’s Jobs Fair at the Roundhouse, so I head over at 11.30am to set-up our stand and make sure everything is ready for when the doors open at 1.00pm.

After a short presentation, the students start to flood into the stands. We get chatting to some students about the temporary and part-time positions available. By the end of the event, we’ve gathered quite a lot of applications forms!

Back at the office the window cleaning team arrive for our weekly management meeting, where we discuss the jobs in the diary and make sure everyone knows what they’re doing.

After work I do a session in the gym before heading home to spend some time with the family.

Friday

It’s our regular employee focus group this morning. All employees are invited to give their honest feedback of Office Care, from how they find working for the company to things they’d like to change, their opinion of the management style and even the equipment they use.

After the feedback portion of the focus group, employees are treated to a selection of refreshments - and they receive a bonus in their wages!

I spend the rest of the afternoon going through my reports, which allow me to remotely monitor staff clocking in and out. This is important for health and safety, as many of the staff work alone this alerts me if a member of staff clocks in but not out, or doesn’t clock in at all.

After work I head home to get ready for a night out in Nottingham with some friends – we’re going to see Plan B at the Trent FM Arena and then for dinner at Jamie’s Italian.

Saturday

I’m up bright and early for my morning Body Pump class at the gym. Suitably refreshed, my partner and I head over to Crufts at the NEC Arena in Birmingham!

When we get back from Birmingham, there’s just enough time for a quick change before meeting my sister’s for dinner.

Sunday

In the afternoon, I get a call from one of our cleaning operatives who, has hurt her knee and is unable to work tonight. As the only key holder to the building, I get some cleaning materials together and go and do it myself – not the way I planned to end the weekend, but it’s all in a day’s work!
